aaajiao全新创作《Seed: 714774160》、《Seed: 1897550703》亮相第四届今日未来馆“致不灭的你”览汇集了30位/组当代艺术家的54组跨媒介作品,展现了今日美术馆对于全球语境下“艺术”“科技”“设计”三个方向的深度探索。


展览的标题和启发来自2021年的动漫系列《致不灭的你》。故事讲述了一个无定形的外星生命,通过不断寄居、迁移,体验了由无机体、植物、动物、到最后化为人形的旅途。每次跨物种变形皆由上一个宿主的死亡引发,由此扩展了我们对与“模拟”和“智能”的哲思,将情感和具体化的经验纳入其中,亦在更大的时间尺度上定位了认知。该展览同样希望能为观者营造某种沉浸式的体验,通过一系列令人振奋的艺术创作和哲学思辨,超越逐渐千篇一律的“声光电”媒介奇观,去探寻科技对想象力、历史、心灵、与生活的意义。

此次展出的作品《Seed: 714774160》、《Seed: 1897550703》是aaajiao的全新创作。aaajiao在这一系列创作中探讨“人们如何从随机事件中再次找到价值”,这可能也是人们仅存的能力。当人工智能绘制内容几乎已经可以代替所有商业需求,艺术家或许还有机会喘口气人工智能艺术中的种子是一系列告诉人工智能如何生成图像的数字。它就像一件艺术品的蓝图,指导人工智能创造新的、独特的东西。通过生成随机种子然后基于它衍生图像,人工智能可以创建无数种图像。而每次输入相同的提示、种子和设置,都将会得到完全相同的图像。

作为一个致力于探讨艺术与科技之间细腻关联的双年展,“致不灭的你”囊括了丰富的媒介形式。通过将二十世纪中期重要的艺术史案例穿插在新近的创作中,展览邀请观众对当前科技引发的艺术思潮和存在主义危机进行更深入的思考,因为这些历史前提从未真正从我们所经历的当下中消失。展览已于2023年7月23日开幕,将持续至10月15日。

aaajiao's new works Seed: 714774160 and Seed: 1897550703 exhibited at the 4th Future of Today Biennale "To Your Eternity". The exhibition brings together 54 sets of cross-media works by 30 contemporary artists, presenting the exploration of Today Art Museum in the three directions of "art", "technology" and "design" in the global context.

The exhibition takes its title and spirit from the 2021 anime series “To Your Eternity”. The story follows an amorphous alien entity as it approximates various forms of inorganic, plant, animal, and ultimately human lives through inhabiting their life cycles. This trans-species metamorphosis is spurred by the death of the previous host, expanding the definition of “intelligence” to also encompass feelings, embodied experiences, and situated knowledge against a grander scale of time. The exhibition similarly hopes to immerse visitors in an exhilarating range of artistic and philosophical perspectives on what technology means for our imagination, heart, and livelihood beyond media novelty, spectacle, or gadgetry.

The exhibited works Seed: 714774160 and Seed: 1897550703 are aaajiao's new creationsIn this series of creations, aaajiao explores "how people find value from random events", which may be the only remaining ability of people. When AI drawing can almost replace all commercial needs, artists may still have a chance. The seeds in AI art are a series of numbers that tell the AI how to generate the image. It is like a blueprint for a work of art, guiding the AI to create something new and unique. By generating a random seed and deriving images based on it, AI can create a variety of images. And when you enter the same prompt, seed and settings, you will get the a same image.

As an art and technology biennial, “To Your Eternity” features an unusual range of media. By inserting crucial art historical examples from the mid-20th century into the mix of more recent work, the exhibition invites ponderings on longer throughlines in historical conditionings of our current technological and existential crisis that never truly went away. The exhibition opened on 23 July 2023 and will last until 15 October.

ABOUT THE ARTIST


1984年出生于西安。现生活工作于上海和柏林。


aaajiao,是年轻艺术家徐文恺的化名,也是他虚构的网络分身。1984年(他的出生年份恰好是乔治·奥威尔经典预言式小说的名称),出生于中国最古老城市之一的西安,aaajiao的创作结合了浓重的反乌托邦意识、对文人精神的反思。他的很多作品都致力于探索新的科技和媒体影响之下的文化现象和政治策略,从社交媒体写作、数据处理,到网络和移动媒介下的新美学景观。作为今天全球新一代媒体艺术的代表人物,aaajiao将今天中国特殊的社交媒体文化、科技运用带入了国际艺术的话语和讨论。

Born in 1984 in Xi’an. Currently lives and works in Shanghai and Berlin.


Active online as a media artist, blogger, activist and programmer, aaajiao is the virtual persona of Shanghai- and Berlin- artist Xu Wenkai. Born in 1984—the title of George Orwell’s classic allegorical novel—and in one of China’s oldest cities, Xi’an, aaajiao’s art and works are marked by a strong dystopian awareness, literati spirits and sophistication. Many of aaajiao’s works speak to new thinkings, controversies and phenomenon around the Internet, with specific projects focusing on the processing of data, the blogsphere and China’s Great Fire Wall. aaajiao’s recent projects extend his practice to various disciplines (among them, architecture, topography, and design) to capture the pulse of the young generation consuming cyber technology and living in social media.
